EARLY AUTUMN – WORKS IN THE GARDEN

With the onset of autumn, the work in the garden does not decrease. On the contrary, this is the height of the season of fruit, berries and late-ripening root crops.

In September, it is still warm in the daytime, but the nights are already cold. At the end of the month, the first frosts may occur. You need to get ahead of them by preparing the garden for winter on time. Therefore, keep the covering materials ready to protect the plantings from the first frosts as promptly as possible

And while you are waiting for colder weather, make your spring work easier– put the vacant beds in order. It is necessary to clear the soil of plant residues, dig it up and fertilize.

In order for the soils not to mix in the autumn and spring period, as well as to save on bulk materials, the method of separating soil layers with the Agrotex’Geo non-woven materials is used. The material is used not only for beds and flower gardens, but also for the arrangement of garden paths.

In autumn, the remaining plantings of cucumbers, tomatoes or peppers are still covered with unwoven materials, especially at night, to protect them from cold and diseases and prolong the fruiting period.

Ripening autumn berries, for example, chokeberry and sea buckthorn, are loved by birds. The light Agrotex 17 material will help protect the crop from them. Before covering, tie the branches with the Agrotex’Sad bands.

The material breathes, passes through light and water, allowing the crop to ripen and at the same time protecting it from birds.

In September, the majority of biennials and perennials are planted in a permanent place. After transplanting them into the open ground, plants require protection from the cold during the adaptation period. For this, you can use the Agrotex’Sad cases and the winter cover for roses and flowering shrubs – ready-made products from unwoven material, reusable and easy to use. Low-growing plants, planted in groups or occupying a large area, are protected by covering them with the Agrotex material of a high density (60 g/m² or more).

In mid-September, fruit and decorative trees and shrubs are planted. They have enough time to take root before the onset of winter, but young plants still need additional protection from frosts, especially in the first few years after planting. The stem of a tree or shrub is wrapped in several layers with a special garden bandage from unwoven material so that there is a small air space between the layers.

The covering of coniferous plants for the winter with the Agrotex materials saves them not only from frost but also from sunburns on needle-foliage, which preserves the decorative appearance of plants. To protect plants from the cold, you can use special covering cases, white Agrotex 60, or white Agrotex 17-30 to cover frames (espaliers).

By the end of September, spring small-bulbous and bulbous plants are planted in flower beds or on the lawn; some of them should also be covered from the cold.

In spring, you will need Agrotex 17 to protect the lawn, especially if there are bald spots on it that require reseeding. The material will protect the seeds from birds, washout or shifting by wind.

If there is a pond on your plot, pull a medium-density (42 g/m2) white nonwoven fabric on top so that leaves do fall into the pond. This will prevent foliage decaying at the bottom of the pond and facilitate pre-winter care of the pond.

In early autumn, people begin to prepare their gardens for winter, making covering and mulching materials ready. Indeed, well-wintered plants will give a good harvest next season.

We wish you a rich harvest in your garden!
